In mid-April 2024, the New Territories West Regional Joint Office (JO) received a water seepage complaint from a tenement building of more than 40 years old in the old district of Tsuen Wan. The JO staff promptly launched an investigation. Upon confirmation of the water seepage situation at the ceiling of the living room in the affected flat, the JO staff visited the flat upstairs for investigation and found that it comprised six partitioned flats (subdivided flats) in which no occupants were around.
After multiple attempts by the JO staff, the owner and the three occupants were successfully contacted and a Stage II Colour Water Test was completed in mid-June. During the period, the JO staff patiently explained to the owner the responsibilities of owners and occupants, the workflow of the JO as well as neighbourhood relationship, etc., and urged the owner to consider engaging an engineering company to carry out repairs at the flat.
While handling the case, the JO staff patiently maintained close liaison with the occupant of the affected flat. The occupant informed the JO in mid-July that relevant repair works at the flat upstairs had been completed with the water seepage problem fully resolved. The occupant of the affected flat expressed gratitude towards our untiring efforts and coordination during the investigation process. The JO felt much honoured and encouraged to have won the recognition and praise of the public for its work, and pledged to continue to carry out its duties steadfastly for providing better services to the community with a professional and positive attitude.
