In April 2024, the Kowloon Regional Joint Office (JO) received a water seepage complaint from a private housing estate in Yaumatei. The complainant said that there was water seepage at the ceiling of his/her living room and asked the JO to follow up. The JO staff called the complainant to learn more about the water seepage situation. The complainant expressed his/her worry that the seepage might affect the environmental hygiene of his/her flat and the health of his/her new-born baby, and hoped the JO staff would come to the affected flat to understand the situation and provide coordination support.
Upon confirmation of water seepage at the affected flat, the JO staff immediately visited the flat upstairs to carry out a colour water test. During the test, “continuous dripping” to the floor slab from a fresh water tap for floor washing was noted in the bathroom of the flat upstairs. Hence, the occupant of the flat upstairs was informed of the situation and advised to check his/her water supply system as soon as possible. Upon receipt of the JO staff’s advice, the occupant promptly said that he/she would hasten to arrange a qualified person to conduct inspection and repairs.
Later, the JO staff learned that the water seepage at the complainant’s flat had stopped, and the complainant agreed to conclude the investigation of the case.
Subsequently, the complainant called 1823 to commend the JO staff for their high operational efficiency, and their efforts in identifying the source of water seepage and rendering appropriate advice to have the water seepage problem completely resolved.
